Beam Angle
Beam angle is the angle across which a luminaire’s intensity falls to 50% of its peak, describing how concentrated or spread the output is. Industrial high bays commonly offer 60° (deep, for high mounting and racking aisles), 90° (general), and 120° (wide, for lower ceilings). Floodlights extend the vocabulary with asymmetric distributions that throw light forward without tilting the fixture skyward — critical for sports fields and perimeter lighting where uplight and spill must be controlled. Beam angle interacts directly with spacing: narrower beams permit higher mounting but demand closer or more carefully planned spacing to preserve uniformity.
