Foot-candle (fc)
The foot-candle is the imperial unit of illuminance used chiefly in North America: one lumen per square foot. One foot-candle equals 10.764 lux; for quick conversion, multiply foot-candles by roughly 10 to get lux. US specifications (IES recommended practices, OSHA guidance) quote foot-candles — a warehouse task area at 20 fc corresponds to about 200 lx. International projects frequently mix documentation from both systems, so datasheets for export markets typically publish photometric summaries in lux while US-market cut sheets show foot-candles. The underlying photometric files are identical; only the display unit differs.
