EN 13201

EN 13201 is the European road-lighting standard series, used worldwide as the reference for street lighting tenders. Part 1 selects a lighting class from traffic parameters; Part 2 defines the classes — M1–M6 for motorised routes (specified in road-surface luminance with uniformity and glare limits), C0–C5 for conflict areas, and P1–P6 for pedestrian and residential areas (specified in illuminance); Parts 3–4 define calculation and measurement methods; Part 5 addresses energy performance indicators. A compliant design is demonstrated by photometric calculation with the luminaire’s IES/LDT files across a defined grid. Adaptive dimming in low-traffic hours is explicitly compatible with the framework.
