CE Marking (CE)
CE marking is the manufacturer’s declaration that a product meets all applicable EU directives — for LED luminaires principally the Low Voltage Directive (electrical safety), the EMC Directive, RoHS, and the Ecodesign regulation. It is not a quality certificate issued by an authority: the manufacturer self-declares via a Declaration of Conformity backed by test reports against harmonised EN standards (EN 60598 safety, EN 55015 emissions, EN 61547 immunity, EN 62471 photobiological safety). Importers placing product on the EU market are legally responsible for verifying this documentation exists and retaining it for ten years. A CE logo without a matching DoC and test reports offers no protection at customs.
