RoHS

RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances, Directive 2011/65/EU) restricts lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, PBB/PBDE flame retardants, and four phthalates in electrical equipment sold in the EU. LED luminaires demonstrate compliance through material declarations and testing compiled per EN IEC 63000, and RoHS conformity is declared on the same CE Declaration of Conformity as safety and EMC. In procurement practice, RoHS documentation matters at customs and in tenders with environmental scoring. LEDs inherently avoid the mercury content of fluorescent and HID lamps — one reason LED conversion also simplifies end-of-life handling under WEEE rules.
