Cobra Head Street Light
The cobra head is the classic roadway luminaire silhouette — a slim arm-mounted head whose curved profile resembles a cobra’s hood — that dominates municipal streets across the Americas and much of the world. Modern LED cobra heads keep the familiar form and pole interface (typically a 40–60 mm slip-fitter with adjustable tilt) while replacing HPS internals with LED arrays, roadway optics, and driver compartments designed for tool-less roadside maintenance. Many include NEMA or Zhaga sockets for photocells and smart-city nodes. Municipal retrofit programs favour the format precisely because it swaps one-for-one onto existing arms and pole spacings, letting the photometric design work within legacy infrastructure.
