IECEx

IECEx is the international certification scheme that tests and certifies equipment directly against the IEC 60079 series, issuing certificates in a public online registry together with ongoing factory quality audits (QAR). Its purpose is one certificate accepted across many jurisdictions — Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, and much of the Gulf recognize IECEx with little or no re-testing, and it is frequently named in oil-and-gas operator specifications. IECEx and ATEX overlap heavily in technical content; ATEX adds EU legal formalities, IECEx adds international portability and a verifiable central database. Manufacturers commonly pursue IECEx after establishing national Ex certification when target projects demand it.
