ANSI C136 Standards

ANSI C136 is the American National Standards family covering roadway and area lighting equipment — the North American counterpart, in practical procurement terms, to Europe’s EN 13201 design standard plus its hardware norms. Individual parts specify the details tenders cite: C136.41 defines the dimming photocontrol receptacle (the NEMA 7-pin socket), C136.2 covers electrical surge withstand levels for luminaires, C136.31 sets vibration testing for fixtures on bridges and high-mast poles, C136.37 covers solid-state luminaire field data, and C136.15 governs the luminaire label. US and Canadian municipal specifications rarely say “street light” without a string of C136 references, so export models for those markets are configured against them — receptacle, surge module, tool-less entry and marking chosen to match the cited parts. Reading the C136 list in a tender is the fastest way to quote the right variant first time.
