Monocrystalline vs Polycrystalline Panel

Solar panels on lighting products come mainly in two silicon types. Monocrystalline cells, cut from a single crystal, convert more of the light that hits them, perform relatively better in weak and high-temperature conditions, and are the usual choice where panel area is tight — such as the lid of an all-in-one street light. Polycrystalline cells, cast from multiple crystals, cost less per watt and remain a sound choice where space allows a slightly larger panel, which is why they are common on split-type systems and garden fixtures. For a buyer, the type matters less than the honest numbers around it: rated wattage under standard test conditions, how that wattage was sized against the site’s peak sun hours, and the quality of the glass and frame that must survive years of hail, dust and UV on top of a pole.
