Increased Safety (Ex e) (Ex e)

Ex e — increased safety — protects by prevention rather than containment: the design eliminates sparks, arcs and hot spots in normal operation and then adds margin everywhere, with reinforced insulation, generous clearance and creepage distances, secured connections that cannot loosen under vibration, and conservative temperature limits. Having no arcing parts to start with, it is the natural concept for terminal compartments, junction boxes and luminaire wiring chambers, and in practice most “Ex d” LED fixtures are actually marked Ex db eb: a flameproof optical and driver chamber married to an increased-safety termination compartment, so electricians connect cables in the safer, simpler enclosure. Governed by IEC 60079-7 and its GB/T 3836 counterpart, Ex e equipment at level ‘eb’ serves Zone 1 — a combination our GB/T 3836-certified SJFB series uses for exactly this maintainability reason.
